Vertebrae Inc. was an early pioneer of VR and AR adtech. The Vertebrae SDK enabled developers to add sponsored to their environments at runtime while maintaining continuity with the art style, and lighting.  The content could range from textures and images, to pre-textured 3D assets, and 360-degree interstitial videos.

Contributions
  • I mainly researched, and co-developed features for the Vertebrae SDK and documented the API, while providing technical support for our customers.
  • I also built a custom video player which would handle 360-degree video playback and gather metrics about where a user was focusing their attention, and for how long.  Videos were delivered in separate chunks and stored on the local file system.  Once all the pieces were downloaded they were combined in another thread into a single file at the byte level.  This ensured expedient file handling while not affecting performance of the main thread.
  • During preparation for trade shows and tech demos, I also helped build interactive experiences showcasing all of the features of the Vertebrae SDK.
